Accountant's life turns around

Zoey Jiang came to Maharishi University of Management (MUM) in August 2014 to study in the Accounting Professionals MBA program. However, she felt so captivated by Maharishi’s knowledge that she transferred to the Maharishi Vedic Science master’s program within a week. In September she is planning to attend the Transcendental Meditation Teacher Training Course in Bali.

Zoey was born in the northeastern part of China and grew up reading classical Chinese literature and philosophy. After graduating from college, she worked as an accountant for the Department of Finance at the National Aerospace Research Institute and as an auditor for a top CPA firm in Beijing. In 2013 she was selected as one of the 30 National Leading Accounting Talents by the Chinese Ministry of Finance.

In spite of her professional success, she knew there was more to life than working and making money. Her life had no direction, and the heavy workload caused her health to decline. She sought comfort in books on philosophy, spirituality, and religion, but it wasn’t enough. In the spring of 2014 she quit her job and went on a pilgrimage to the holy site of Mount Kailash in Tibet. Undeterred by her severe altitude sickness, she circumambulated the mountain in the hope of advancing her evolution.

Zoey decided that she had a chance of finding a more fulfilling job in the US, so she applied to MUM. To her surprise, she discovered the evolutionary tool she had been searching for: the Transcendental Meditation technique.

“The reason I appreciate Maharishi Vedic Science so much is because I appreciate my own Chinese culture a lot,” said Zoey. “I have a deep interest in Eastern cultures and religions, and I find Maharishi gives perfect answers to the questions I have had for many years. The more I learn about Maharishi Vedic Science, the more I see the similarities between the Chinese tradition and the Vedic tradition.”

Zoey learned the TM-Sidhi program at the first opportunity and joined the Enlightened Leadership Program at MUM. She feels her life has turned around, and she is now both healthy and happy. When she visited China last year, she inspired some of her friends to learn the TM technique, including Chongal Rinpoche, a Tibetan Buddhist master from Nepal, who visited MUM last December. Zoey also took a Rotating University course to India and was inspired by the historical sites Maharishi visited and the schools he established.

“I want to bring Maharishi’s knowledge to China and to all the Chinese people around the world,” she said. “The Chinese have a rich cultural appreciation for harmony, which is also what the TM and TM-Sidhi programs could offer people.”
