The Maharishi University of Management community in Fairfield, Iowa, USA recently welcomed ‘the most outstanding visitor that any Maharishi institution, and Consciousness-Based institution in the world could receive’, in the words of MUM President Dr Bevan Morris.

Dr Morris was introducing Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam, honoured by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi as First Ruler of the Global Country of World Peace—a country without borders founded by Maharishi in 2000 to provide ‘a global home for peace-loving people everywhere’. Dr Morris is also Prime Minister of the Global Country of World Peace.

On 16 November 2010, before Maharaja’s meeting with an overflow audience of students and faculty in Dalby Hall on the MUM campus, Dr Morris explained that Maharishi designated Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam ‘to be after him the leader of all his worldwide family of organizations—in the field of education, in health, in architecture and agriculture, every dimension of the huge achievement that Maharishi created in the world, was to be under the leadership of this outstanding scientist of the human race.’

Enumerating the breadth and depth of Maharaja’s achievements in many fields of higher education, knowledge, and scientific research, Dr Morris’s presentation encompassed his distinguished academic career, and work as a world-renowned neuroscientist and teacher in the field of Maharishi Vedic Approach to Health. Among countless other projects he carried out pioneering research and training of physicians in this field—all of this culminating in his extraordinary discovery, under Maharishi’s guidance, of Veda and the Vedic Literature in human physiology.

Dr Morris described Maharaja as ‘brilliant intellectually and academically’—a medical doctor who also has his PhD from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in cognitive science. ‘In all of the usual academic fields, Maharaja is on the pinnacle of scientific achievement,’ Dr Morris said. He also told students that Maharaja was always at the highest level of academic achievement in all his studies—for example in the graduate school at MIT, renowned in the world for its challenging academic rigour, he was always on the top level of grade point of the whole institution.

Giving several examples, Dr Morris went deeply into how Maharaja, under Maharishi’s guidance, became the greatest living exponent of all aspects of Maharishi Vedic Science. At MIT he did the first scientific research in the world on the ‘extraordinary effects of Maharishi Ayur-Veda herbal preparations, the formulas for which are thousands of years old, derived from the ancient Vedic Literature, producing very great beneficial effects for health without side effects.’

Dr Morris also recounted that when Maharaja was a medical student in his home country of Lebanon, he was surrounded by a terrible civil war. In his home village of Baskinta, in the mountains above Beirut, he introduced the Transcendental Meditation Technique to virtually everyone in the village, creating the Maharishi Effect of coherence and harmony in the collective consciousness of the village. ‘The result was that, while the war raged all around the village, in that town there was no destruction and no violence,’ Dr Morris recounted, ‘—one of the most remarkable scientific demonstrations of this effect.’

He was the chief physician at the Maharishi Vedic Health Center in Lancaster, Massachusetts, USA, and is ‘a great expert in every dimension of health care, from modern medicine and from the ancient knowledge of Maharishi Ayur-Veda,’ said Dr Morris, adding that Maharaja is a great master in the special Ayurvedic method of taking the pulse and detecting present and oncoming imbalances.

At Maharishi’s request he travelled in the Soviet Union about 20 years ago, and taught several thousand doctors Ayurvedic pulse diagnosis. Dr Morris described being present during some of these classes, commenting that Maharaja is ‘a master teacher of the doctors and of everyone to whom he speaks’. He opened up the teaching of this knowledge in many countries—even in Mongolia—and ‘has cultured so many nations in this knowledge of enlightenment and perfect health’.

The most fascinating aspect of Dr Morris’s presentation was his perspective on how the greatest project Maharaja Adhiraj Rajaraam accomplished in this field unfolded—his discovery demonstrating that the Unified Field of Natural Law, the total managing intelligence of the universe, lies at the basis of the human physiology. Dr Morris’s insightful account of this historic development will be the subject of a future article in Excellence in Action, as well as highlights of Maharaja’s discussions with MUM students and faculty.
