Sixteen new students arrived from China this spring, the first group from Maharishi University of Management’s new partner institutions. Five of the students are undergraduates with plans to major in literature or business, while the other eleven are in the MBA program.

“We’re delighted with the new arrivals and happy they were able to come so soon after the agreements were signed,” said Brad Mylett, dean of admissions. “They’re very much enjoying their experience here, and we hope to enroll additional students from these schools this fall.”

MUM’s new partner institutions include one in Beijing, one in Qiongzhou on Hainan Island, and one in Jilin province in Northeastern China. MUM already has an ongoing partnership with the Overseas Chinese College of the Capital University of Economics and Business in Beijing.

“The new students quickly merged into the mainstream of the MUM student body thanks to the work and support from the dean and staff of Student Life,” said Dr. Yunxiang Zhu, vice president of Asia expansion at MUM.

Mr. Li Meng, director of MUM’s China Liaison Office, visited MUM in the middle of May to see the new students. He visited student dorms, had meals with the new students, and spent time with them discussing their experience.

“MUM is a harmonious and green campus,” said student Yingdi Shao. “Our teachers treated us extremely well. The relationships among students are very friendly. Although we came from different countries and cultural backgrounds, we really feel like a big family, caring for and loving each other.”

The University plans to offer degree programs incorporating Consciousness-Based education at these partner institutions in China as well as faculty development workshops for faculty from China here at MUM.
