Stephen Hopson, a 2010 MA in Maharishi Vedic Science graduate, just completed the manuscript of his first book titled Obstacle Illusions. The book contains 25 stories from his life and the lessons he learned from them. Each chapter ends with exercises that ask readers to reflect on their own lives and see beyond their obstacles.

While a student at Maharishi University of Management, Stephen became the first deaf practitioner of the TM-Sidhi program and received an Outstanding Student Award as well as a Development of Consciousness Award.

“One of the stories includes the three words that forever changed my life as a skinny, bucktoothed kid who wore monstrous hearing aids, and although appeared happy-go-lucky on the outside, had low self-esteem because I was having a very difficult time in school,” said Stephen.

Obstacle Illusions is a powerful account of Stephen Hopson’s life experiences ranging from defeat to triumph. Readers will find themselves laughing and crying and contemplating life in a deep, meaningful way,” said Marci Shimoff, New York Times #1 bestselling author of Chicken Soup for the Soul.

Stephen began to look at obstacles as opportunities early in his life. In spite of being profoundly deaf from birth, he had a lucrative carrier on Wall Street as a banker and stockbroker. Next, he became a transformational speaker and author and the world’s first deaf instrument-rated pilot.

“The Transcendental Meditation and TM-Sidhi programs continue to change my life and move me forward,” he said. “I feel my life has made a huge internal, shift where I've been placed on what feels like a jet stream propelling me forward with astonishing speed, the likes of which I've never before experienced.”

Obstacle Illusions is scheduled to be released early 2011 from 1st World Publishing in Fairfield. For more information about Stephen and his book go to www.sjhopson.com.
